- I can not state enough how important it is to shop around. To be honest I have found them all to be expensive. I looked at benefits from Blue Cross / Blue Shield, Blue Choice of SC, Aetna, and a couple others I'd never heard of and the lowest rate I was quoted for single coverage was for $191. 00 per month. Most of the plans I looked at did not provide co - pays and had high deductibles. Unfortunately individual insurance policies can be quite costly.
